HISTORY ABOUT CAFE BON-BON:

Cafe Bon-Bon opened March 17, 2004 as Bonnie Loubier started her new adventure.  We opened on a snowing wintery day. Many people came and welcomed us to the neighborhood.

Thanks to Mechanics Savings Bank, John Belisle, we were able to receive a Small Business Loan on January 16, 2004. Total collateral was our home, our comic store business iinventory and our blood on paper.

OUR FIRST YEAR WAS VERY VERY GOOD!

SECOND YEAR VERY TOUGH, WE CLOSED FOR 2 MONTHS to reorganize.

With the help of our lawyer, we did it. Thank you Neil Shankman and Charles Cromwell our landlord for being patient with us.

Then  Cafe Bon-Bon reopened in March 2006 under a new Limited Liability Company. Cafe Bon-Bon II, LLC and Joe Loubier, Bonnie's husband, was the new owner.

We added new menu items and reduced a great deal on the drink menu. Added music to the environment.

We are now in our 4th year and are still just making it.  Prices keep going up and so our menu is continually being raised to meet our budget. Gas and oil prices continue to soar but still those dedicated Cafe Bon-Bon people come to enjoy healthy good food.

We would , Joe and I like to thank our patrons for the dedicated business for year 2007.

Lewiston, Maine is the second largest city in the state of Maine and was recently named a 2007 "All American City" by the National Civic League.

We are located on the banks of the Androscoggin and captured between lush landscape and mountains.

Bonnie Loubier hopes a new cafe featuring her favorite coffee and Franco heritage will take off.

THE BEANS THE THING:

Bonnie Loubier finds coffee enticing.

So enticing that when she was unsure which new career path to choose, she just decided to follow her nose, so to speak.

It will feature espresso,cappuccino,lattes, smoothies, pastries, soups and deli sandwiches. After careers in landscape design, retailing and finance, she and her husband Joe were brainstorming about her next move. It was her love of coffee that tipped the scales and nudged her to open a cafe.

Loubier decided that Lewiston could use a cafe downtown, where customers can grab  quick coffee to go, or take advantage of the couch and chairs, wireless internet, to unwind and relax over a hot beverage. The cafe is located in the former Day's Travel office, surrounded by huge street side windows that let in lots of sun.  Loubier will be adding new awnings to exterior, but not so they block the sunshine. She's try to recreate a sunny, Parisien street cafe. A mural depicitng a French city scene adorns one entire wall and small bistro tables and chairs will dot the sidewalk outside her door.

"I hope to attract professionals, college students and customers from Zimmie's" she said with a smile. "Ad foot traffic from other Main street businesses."

Grand opening celebration from 11m to 3pm on April 5th with the mayor.

Antique teapots and coffeepots she will have on display.

"I'll have a healthy menu, but you know, you can't help but have a little pastry with your coffee," she said as she ticked off the scones, muffins and homemade treats she plans to offer.

Then she smiled.

"I'm wicked excited."
